Hello Peer Travelers,
Last week, I decided it was time to write about my travel experiences and journey as a young travel blogger. I mean, I travel with my family all the time and I love staying in hotels….I want to live in a hotel.
I had a blast at The Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Galleria in Tysons Corner, Virginia. We live in Bowie, Maryland which is 45 mins away and I had a fashion show at Neiman Marcus so mom thought it would be best to spend the entire weekend away. I was so happy.
Since my experience was so amazing at The Ritz-Carlton, here are 5 reasons why you should book your next stay:
1. The staff and service was incredible (since I’m only a fourth grader, I’m still learning words to use to describe things…mom would say…GET THE DICTIONARY, Aniya!) They even gave me apple cider in a fancy glass.
2. They have a really great spa and indoor pool and jacuzzi (I swam for 2 hours in that pool)
3. The room was very clean and we had great views of Tysons and DC skyline.
4. The Entyse Wine Bar Restaurant & Lounge and American Eats Tavern by Jose’ Andres’ has great dishes on the menu. Everything I ate for the entire weekend was #yummilicious❣❣
5. The best for last, The Ritz-Carlton is connected to Tysons Galleria Mall, how convenient is that❣ I was able to make my fashion show at Neiman Marcus Tysons Galleria on time. How cool is it that you and shop and relax at the same time.
All in all, my grandma, mom and I enjoyed our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Galleria and there are some many things you can do in Tysons Corner for the whole family.
Until my next adventure, that’s all folks and thank you for reading my post.

Chris Rock as the host of The Oscars, tackling #OscarsSoWhite boycott and lack of diversity
At the 88th 2016 Academy Awards, Chris Rock hosts The Oscars , (in my opinion) dove right in and found a eloquent and comedic way of addressing the boycott (started by Jada Pinkett Smith, in defense of the lack of diversity in award nominees and categories aka the neglect of her actor husband, Will Smith), the lack of diversity in Hollywood and references to hashtag #OscarsSoWhite. Rock was able to get people out of their comfort zones and pay more attention by showing up and hosting the show even though some of his actor comrades would have preferred he not take the job. I mean, can’t you make more if s difference being in the room than not even in the game to start.
Now that I’ve said all of that, my subconscious reminded that Chris Rock had already addressed the issue of diversity and calling out the African American community a few years back in a HBO special, The Black List. His piece was one of my favorite because it not only make me want to stand up and take accountability for my own legacy but gave me the permission to fail at something but still get back up on my feet and keep going. Jada (as much as I love you), should’ve watched this because it may have been one of his best but you forgot you and your family are in position where if someone said you sucked, you’d still be okay. You are also in a position of power to create your own Black Academy Award Show (if you are ready, solicit my services for branding concepts and marketing).
Take a look at the clip and be reminded to get up and go to work for what you want, get in the room and let’s get to the point where we create our own opportunities and leverage our resources…you will still be awesome if you sucked!!
Leave your comments! Do you think that Chris Rock made the right choice to host?
Stop Co-Mingling Funds
As a bookkeeping consultant I have the pleasure of working with a wide range of businesses owners. One common mistake that 50% of them make is co-mingling funds. Entrepreneurs and small business owners please STOP co-mingling funds, I beg of you. If you have not been made aware it is poor business practice and something that happens way to often.
What is co-mingling funds you ask. Co-mingling of funds is when one uses there personal checking account as their business account. There are many reasons why one should not co-mingle personal and business funds. One reason why is, it creates an extensive workload for your bookkeeper/accountant who has to spend countless hours deciphering between what is a business expense and what is not. Another reason is, the co-mingling of funds limits your ability to see your company’s growth in revenue. It is EXTREMELY important to separate personal income from business income. Without separating the two It is hard to get a clear picture of how your business is doing financially.
Tips to help resolve your co-mingling funds issue
The first step to take in solving this problem is open a business checking account. Be sure to shop around to ensure you get the best deal. Having a business checking account allows for all business income and expenses to debited or credited from that one account. This also forces you to pay yourself first, which means transferring funds from the business account to your personal account to take care of expenses that can not be classified and business expenses.
Keep in mind that your business account should be used for business transactions only. Be sure to keep accurate financial records. If that is not your strong suit higher a certified bookkeeper to handle that aspect of your business. I guarantee your stress levels will diminish come next tax season.
