Our SNL Night: Flex and Shanice

Saturday Night Lineup: OWN’s Flex and Shanice

OWN’s Flex & Shanice

So with all the ratchet television (we admit that we get caught up in it sometimes but not often) it is refreshing that one of our favorite television networks, OWN’s Saturday night line up is awesome. With one of there reality shows, entertainment upcoming power couple, Flex and Shanice, last week’s show heated up a little bit with family member Ruba throwing a party and getting arrested on air (Ruba’s Party Lands Him In Jail). Although that was a juicy moment, the moment that warmed our hearts was when Shanice was given some constructive criticism and confidence boost to get in the studio and write a song. This was a great moment to see Shanice get into a position of creativity, passion and reignite her writing ability. It has been some years since we have heard from the songbird and her memorable single, ‘I Love Your Smile’ in the 90s and with the show, this is a great way for the fan to connect with the artist. We can forget that celebrities are people and the go through the ups and downs, rock bottoms and ultimate highs but the nature of being able to overcome adversity is what makes the show a must watch on Saturday Nights with your own family. Flex and Shanice have obviously experienced some major rock bottoms but in this episode, you get to see how they are climbing to the top and seeing that success is not that far off. How beautiful is to see a couple support each other, keep their family in tact, survive the drama and still be in love with one another? How we hope this show inspires other couples to go the distance but learning to work together!!!

Be sure to watch last week’s episode below and set your DVRs (if you have to) to OWN’s Hit Reality Series: Flex and Shanice

Amy Winehouse Tribute

We know we are a week late from her untimely death on July 23rd but this post had to be done. SocietyKeeper absolutely loves the music Amy Winehouse left behind for us to enjoy. Amy became legendary the minute she came out with her first mainstream album. Her timeless and vintage soulful voice was so reminiscent of the legendary singers from the 40’s and 50’s era like Billie Holiday, Lena Horne and Frank Sinatra. The release of the documentary, Amy hitting theaters on July 3rd making it almost 4 years after her death, we honor this beautifully soul who died so tragically and publicly. Be sure to watch the trailer below as well as a few videos that we love. Amy was respected in the industry by so many people and her story is one that anyone who aspires to enter into the industry or just having any issues with substance abuse, to please seek or take help to get back to a place of loving yourself and healing. Until the end, Amy sang even with a circle of people willing to throw her into the throws of drugs and alcohol. We have not gotten a chance to see the documentary but we would love to hear from those who have seen the film. We have  provided links to her website where you can donate to The Amy Winehouse Foundation as well article post you can read about Amy on  US Weekly Interview with Kelly Osbourne as She Remembers Amy Winehouse and The Guardian Interview with Mark Ronson about Amy Film

Legends Live Forever and Amy Winehouse definitely earned that title!

Black Rose Worth The Picking

The latest music project from Tyrese, Black Rose with the instant classic single, Shame

The latest music project from Tyrese, Black Rose with the instant classic single, Shame

The latest and what he may be the last solo project he will release, Tyrese delivers phenomenal vocals, lyrics and musical production on the newly released album, Black Rose on his independent label, Voltron Records. The first release single, “Shame” (this track will make some of the toughest men breakdown to their woman for forgiveness) is in heavy rotation in radio, the video and short film Shame, directed by Denzel Washington, Tyrese is solidifying his name into the entertainment industry as a megastar and proves that being versatile and consistent in the business pays off. Tyrese has brought some amazing bodies of work to music and his fans will only add this one to their worthwhile collects. With some awesome collaborations (which we have add one soulfully playing while you read), with his music comrades in the game like Brandy (another one of our favorites), Chrisette Michelle, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg and TGT King, Tank. Knocking Miguel’s, WildHeart out of its number 1 last week, we believe that Black Rose has the potential to stay in this spot for a few more weeks to come. Since Tyrese has given us two music videos to enjoy, we have also add them for your viewing pleasure.

Black Rose goes back to the foundation of what makes R&B so sultry……level of passion, love and sensuality. SocietyKeeper gives Black Rose 5 Keys!!
